Privacy Policy
This page explains what Rapid Scrap My Car Birmingham collects when you ask for a quote or call us, who receives it and what your rights are.
Who we are
Rapid Scrap My Car Birmingham is a fully licensed scrap dealer based in Birmingham.
We decide how the details you give us are used, which makes us the data controller under UK data protection law.
What we collect
When you ask for a quote
You give us your vehicle registration, your postcode, your name and your mobile number. We need all four to give you a price, so the form asks for every one of them. We also record the page you sent the request from and the date and time you sent it.
When you call us
Calls to the number on this site go through a call tracking service. It records the number you call from and the time of the call, so we can see which calls come from this site.
When you use this site
The site keeps a small marker in your browser for each page you visit, so that page's welcome message appears only once. If something on a page fails to load, the site sends us a short technical report of the error, without your name or contact details, so we can fix it, and keeps a marker until you close the tab so the same report is not sent twice.
Why we use your details
We use your registration, postcode, name and mobile number to give you a price, to contact you about it and to arrange collection. The law lets us do this because you asked us for a quote.
When we buy a vehicle, the law requires a scrap dealer to check photo ID and to keep a record of the sale for 3 years. We keep those records for that reason.
Who receives your details
We share your details only with the services below, which help us run the quote form, and with the authorities when the law requires it.
Google Sheets
Your request is saved as a new row in a Google Sheet that belongs to this business.
Postmark
Postmark delivers the email that tells us about your request.
Our customer records system
Our customer records system reads the sheet so that we can follow up your request.
Google reCAPTCHA
The quote form uses Google reCAPTCHA to tell real people from automated programs. It runs in the background and works with information from your browser.
Cloudflare
Cloudflare hosts this site and delivers its pages to you.
How long we keep your details
We keep the record of a sale for 3 years, as the law requires of scrap dealers. We keep a quote request that does not lead to a sale for as long as we need it to follow up and to answer questions about it.
Cookies and similar storage
This site stores a small marker in your browser for each page you visit, so that page's welcome message appears only once, and a marker for each error report until you close the tab. It does not use these markers to track you.
The quote form's spam check and the maps are provided by Google, which may set its own cookies. The maps at the bottom of each page load by themselves as they come near the screen.
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages are used. It sets Google's own cookies in your browser to do this, and it does not identify you.
Your rights
You can ask us what details we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete them, and ask us to stop using them. To do any of these, use the contact details below.
Contact us and complaints
Call us or use the contact page, and we will deal with your request.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
